The year is 2050. The coastal area of Dublin is thriving, lads are out enjoying themselves, and there's a pleasant air about the place. It's been 20 years since the new laws were implemented, and though I lost my job, I feel whole.
Ever since the initiation of the reformed CFP, Ireland has consistently been one of the worst offenders in Europe regarding overfishing. This speculative project envisions Dublin in 2050, where laws have been implemented by the government to put a ban on commercial fishing in Irish waters.
The story is told through the personal experience of local ex-commercial fisherman Darragh O'Leary exploring his adaptation to a new way of life, the Irish society's shift in mindset, and the blossoming of new human connections.
